Boinchi is considered to be the starting point of the trek. Hence, we need to take a short drive from Sankri to Boinchi which is approximately three hours away. This drive is extremely scenic with the most beautiful ranges and valleys following you through the ride. We witness small villages which beautifully carry their culture and history within the simple architecture of their houses and surroundings. The appealing villages of Sankri calm your mind and make you ready for the even prettier landscapes and people.
Thereafter comes one of the most beautiful parts of the day- Boinchi which is the point where the two rivers of Dibra and Supin meet. It is a breath-taking sight that has an unusual charm to it. The heights, in the beginning, are easy which sticks through most of the initial trekking days. As we trek for thirty minutes, we come across a concrete bridge that helps us cross the Dibra River.
After this, the trek takes us to a steep ascent with another concrete bridge to be crossed. From this point onwards, the trek becomes quite easy with a gradual ascent to the campsite. You can also sit alongside the Dibra River and have a soothing conversation with your fellow trekkers. The campsite for this day is known as Obra Thatch which is an open field with an old temple devoted to Obra Devi. We settle here for the night and enjoy the calming breeze beside the temple.

Today you wake up being surrounded by the beautiful thatch wherein you will have spent an amazing night by then. The journey from Obra Gad to Bhawa is going to be the longest trek day. Not only that, but you will also gain a certain amount of height by then. Hence, you will need to rest your body well while you are at Obra Gad campsite the last night. The trail ahead of Obra Gad doesn’t only provide you with a difficulty level of the trek, but it also makes you hike through some of the most beautiful sites.
After exiting the Obra Gad campsite, you will find a continuous ascend into the deep, green pine forests that will put a smile on your face. The beautiful forest is rich in greenery and its floor is covered with grass that has long leaves. The fauna will keep you engaged till you are actually out of the forest area. This trek provides you with natural growth of strawberry bushes if you consider trekking in the pre-monsoon time. However, if you wish to go for it after the monsoons, you will not be disappointed either. You will walk on the trail and find some of the best varieties of maple and pine trees that accompany you throughout today’s hike. As we walk forward, we see that we are in that portion of the valley that opens to us a large ground that is beautifully surrounded by mountainous ranges on all sides. The trek before that is a steep one with boulders that need to be crossed.
The mountains that you can see at a distance have serene snow caps that will be welcoming snowfall as you witness it. This is the time when we enter the enchanting campsite that is the Bhawa waterfall that might just take your breath away. Beside this waterfall is a large area of meadow that seems to be formed by the nature cutting out the mountain surface. This place is extremely scenic from every angle and every side. While you see a waterfall on one side, a Birch tree-filled forest welcomes you on the other side. You spend your night in this amazing campsite that will give you the warmest of sleep.

After spending the astonishing night amidst the beauty of natural surroundings, you will start your day with the most calming morning with the waterfall sparkling with fresh water and the sky chirping with little birds. It is more like a fairy tale as you start your journey today. The green fields of Bhawa are going to take you by surprise as the first rays of sunshine fall on it. The day is filled with an abundance of natural offerings. The walk will take you to valleys that will unfold them into large green meadows that will be having mountains on at least one side of it. These mountains will give you a cozy and safe trek ahead.
This is just the beginning. The way to Rangla base and thereafter to Dev Kyara have an enormous number of waterfalls that make this hike from now onwards a treat to the eyes. The waterfalls are not too huge neither are they too tiny. They are just sufficient enough when it comes to building a perfect day. There are not just one or two of these waterfalls, there are about twenty of them that comes our way as we trek through this path and walk towards the Dev Kyara Peak. If you decide to go for this trek in the right season, you will find the most beautiful flowers welcoming you. The many hues of these flowers keep your mind and soul enchanted till you reach the destination. As you walk you come closer to the Ranglana Peak you see the Dibra River flowing right beside you and at some points, you will also see them kissing the trail that you will be hiking on.

If you come for this trek from the months of April to May, i.e. the pre-monsoon time of the year, there is a decent chance that you will come across the snow in this part of the trek. The ascend from here is breathtaking; how the trek runs alongside a beautiful river and the scenery starts changing itself into something even prettier as time passes by as if to please its visitors. The beginning of this trekking journey is indeed the most amusing one. As we walk ahead, we see an atmosphere that seems to be so different from the usual dullness of the urbanized world. Flowers and fields and gigantic mountains in the background only add up to that finishing touch.
There is a boulder crossing section before you reach the campsite. After this part, there is a descent that takes you to the Dev kyara campsite. This campsite is set up at a beautiful location as the Ranglana Peak gives the vibe of Alpine campsite making it more of a sort of mountaineering expedition. There are many snow-capped peaks that are visible from the Dev Kyara campsite that makes it an amazing place to stay in.

This is definitely the day you have been so eagerly waiting for. Make sure you get up early and don’t miss the sunrise. These mornings are going to be nothing like the mornings in a city. The green grass seems to change their color as the rays of the sun touch them. You will be mesmerized as you see the nature around you wake up and put up for you the best they have to offer. The demarcation between the greens and whites at this spot is remarkably auspicious.
Spend your day wandering through the Dev Kyara Peak. The hike from your base camp to Dev Kyara Peak takes approximately two hours. This walk takes us to a view so beautiful that you may just forget that something even more phenomenal could lie beyond it. This is the time when we reach the nose of the waterfall. Walk-in a foot sure manner and all you must do from time to time to look around and take back with you the most splendid vista of all times. The word Dev Kyara means settling point of God. At the Dev Kyara Peak, you will find the most splined kind of view and will come across a huge shade under a rock that is said to be capable of accommodating about a hundred people. Savor the view until it is time to go back to your base camp.

The basecamp is about two hours away from the Dev Kyara Peak. You will have to continue walking back the same way you came from. Bhawa Waterfall campsite is indeed an amazing site to camp for another extra day. We shall give you enough time to savor the big and small details that we lack in our day to day life. That’s what trekking is all about–achieving one step at a time and making memories while doing so.
As you climb downhill, the trek is not really going to make you feel like you are repeating it. The vistas back to your camp give you a different feeling altogether. Enjoy camping beside the Bhawa Waterfall one last time before you retire from the trek. You shall enjoy every bit of your stay in this mesmerizing camp spot.

You’ll want to freeze the moment, but you must keep trekking ahead. Let your inner venturer experience the serenity and simplicity in the mountainous ranges of the Himalayas as you once again pass through the same trails that indeed open up a new sort of perspective towards this trek. Enjoy every bit of your walk down to Obra Gad. The trial is continuous descends until you reach the starting point of this trek. Make sure you carry your trekking pole along with you so that the entire weight of your body and baggage doesn’t fall on your legs.

Repeating the trail is not at all a bad idea since it lets you relive those moments of feeling the lush green forests of pine and maple trees. You will be walking on the same trail that you have been walking on for the last two days. The trail is very easy with a gradual descent downhill on the same route. By the time you reach Sankri, it is almost going to be evening.

Sankri is a small village in Uttarakhand which is a base camp for many Uttarakhand Treks. We will be reaching Sankri in the evening, so it is good advice to plan a night stay in a hotel if your flight isn’t on that very day. The next day you can easily drive back from Sankri to Dehradun and back to your city through a bus, train, or flight.
